Antique toilet seat--won't stay up

Question: Our house "came" with one bathroom full of antique fixtures. The toilet, circa 1920, has a seat that won't stay up because of a raised area on the tank. I called an antique plumbing fixtures place and the guy there said that the toilet was probably plumbed with a waste drain at 12" instead of 14" from the wall. Sure enough, the toilet is at 12" (modern standard). We are going to redo the bath (new walls, flooring, tile, etc.) and the toilet will be pulled out and reinstalled after the new floor covering, but I really don't want to move the drain out 2". Anyone experience this and know of a seat that lies very flat against the tank?

Answer: The raised area on the tank has a purpose--it's to prevent thoughtless men from leaving the seat up. (Actually, they refuse to put it down--a primitive form of passive-aggression.) The "courtesy bump" was built in as a kindness to the ladies.
