 | Basement bathtub plumbing drain trap |
Question: My house came with basement plumbing connections for a bathtub, toilet and a sink. The connections go into the concrete pad and presumable into the main drain line which is at a lower elevation than the basement floor. Question is where is the trap for the tub? The toilet is self trapped and the sink can have a P trap but how is the bathtub trapped?
Answer: -The bath trap would normally be buried in the slab. If it's directly below the stub out, you can verify its presence by pouring water down the stub. Then you should be able to see the water level as the trap will retain it. -Usually there's a sort of pit beneath the business end of the tub for the trap.
