Be A Plumber

Question: $120/hr just for labor. I can understand why mechanic shops, especially here in Cali', have to charge so much due to overhead, but self-employed _plumbers_? You don't have to have a "shop", don't have to carry stock, so what is the expense besides fuel, transportation, and the one-time capital acquisition of tools?

Answer: -Well, over here in poor southern Delaware, you can get electricians working out of their homes (no overhead) for $60-70/hour, and I've talked about this many times. California? High status california? High wage California? Guys to cut a tree down: $300 for an hours worth of work? Were you trying to fix something? Can't do it yourself? I'm not trying to play with you, either. -That is the outpush half of plumbing. The inpush side has the clean (generaly speaking, except where EPA testing says there is a problem) stuff and it should be transparent, or at least translucent (not brown or tan colored, and we're not talking about taste or smell, either). Doubles your job security if you remember both halves. And, if you want to talk about smell or taste of the translucent or transparent stuff, then you're talking about filters, ion-exchangers, distillation, etc.,
