Kitchen sink drain clogged. Need help! Advice!

Question: My kitchen sink drain is clogged. It is a two sink unit with a disposal. After the J trap the pipe goes into the wall. Further complicating matters, I have a drain from a washing machine flowing towards the kitchen sink drain pipe. I believe both drain into a main behind the wall. My question is, can this problem be resolved by using a snake from the possible places of feed (the kitchen drain and the washing machine drain)? Is there a possibility that it could clog in some more complicated fashion behind the wall?

Answer: I had a similar problem several months ago. I had to remove all plumbing up to the wall. Then I actually used a shop vac and sucked up the food, very gross, until I could run a snake down it. I think it got partially blocked and the stuff started pilling up in the wall. Now I watch for slow draining and act quickly by filling the sink 1/2 up on the disposal side then plugged the other sink and turned the disposal on. It usually will force the blockage out.
