 | Clogged toilet? |

Question: Here's the situation. The toilet flushes properly, but the water won't go down. Upon visual inspection there is no apparent waste clogging it from above. So of course I get out the auger and am able to push it all the way through. After trying that and a plunger several times I decide to pull up the toilet to see if I can find any type of obstruction. I'm expecting to find a small toy lodged in there, but still no visible sign of anything. With the toilet removed and brought outside I simulate its' normal operation. I can get the auger to go completely through from the bowl to the bottom and vice-versa, but it still won't flush properly. I did manage to get it to work once, but I'm not about to chance putting it back in place until I can determine exactly what is causing the problem. It seems to me that there must be something stuck inside there that is hindering the water flow, but without being able to see it there's not much that I can do other than go out and buy a new toilet. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Answer: Before you put the toilet back in take a large bucket of water, like 5 gallon plastic bucket, pail. and then fill it up with water and pour it down the hole in the floor. it should go down, if not then its not the toilet, its the underground plumbing. we had one where the drain line broke and it was sucking in mud and blocking the toilet..... hope this is not the case for you... but give it a try to make sure you dont have this problem...... when you take the toilet outside did you pour water into the toilet from a bucket??? this should work, or did you fill up the tank and then try to flush?? if this is the case it might be that the water coming from the tank going to the bowl is not moving quick enough due to the little holes in the bowl are blocked with calcium or water deposits???? with the toilet still outside you might want to try the acid thing. get some muriatic acid and put it into the toilet bown and hose it out. this might get rid of some of the water buildup thats blocking the holes for the water to get into the bowl to fill up with water to flush properly?
