 | Tub drain, drains slowly - clogged |

Question: Can someone give me advice on unclogging a clogged tub drain. This is what I have attempted so far: I unscrewed the trip lever plate, pulled out the trip lever, and then I tried using two different snakes to unclog the drain. The snakes kept looping from the pipe at the trip lever to the drain itself (3ft. in length), I could not get the snake all the way down to the clogged area in the pipe. Every time I pulled the snake up I saw no hair or soap scum on it. Then I tried Zep Heavy Duty (Commercial) drain cleaner on two different occassions. The tub drains about as slow as before. What should I try next.
Answer: -The trip-lever should be connected to a little ( upside-down ) cup. That's what actually plugs the drain. If you didn't get the cup, it's still down there, slowing/clogging the drain. -Sounds like a hair and soap plug. Try snaking it from the cleanout on the tub itself or using sulphuric acid drain cleaner. be careful with the acid if you use it..
