 | DC Sump Pumps: Sears vs. Ace In The Hole (Home Depot |
Question: Having just purchased my first house (also the first place I've lived with a sump pump), I'd like to get a backup system in place before I finish the basement. I've decided to go with a DC pump and have noticed a significant price difference. Home Depot sells the Ace In The Hole system for $380 (Canadian) while Sears sells a 12V pump for about $260 (Canadian). As far as I know, both systems include the DC pump, battery case, charger, and warning buzzer which sounds when the AC dies. Are there important features to look for that I'm missing? Assuming pump capacities are comparable, is there something extra-special about the Ace In The Hole (besides the undeniably catchy name) that justifies the extra expense?
Answer: Check out a few marine supply stores. Automatic bilge pumps are available . you would have to supply the battery and charger and wire it together yourself but there may be some cost savings depending on the size of the pump(gal/hour) and the sophistication of the battery charger.
