Question: Anyone know of any sites where they "walk you through" minor plumbing repairs? We have a ONE bathroom house and yesterday, the toilet stopped working properly. My loving, wonderful...but not exactly "handyman"...husband bought a new assembly. Long story short...the tank was emptied, the old parts removed..and he couldn't get the new one in. AND I was having a bout with nausea AND the big D. AND it was after 10 p.m. when he gave up. (Just 2 miles to the gas station!) I got a plumber here this morning. He initially charged $260 for putting in the part we already had (he spent 10 minutes on the job) but finally agreed to JUST $144 after I balked. (Note - balked is a euphimism for having a fit!) Anyway, now that I have rambled endlessly...anyone know of any sites so that this DOES not happen again?? I'd like to avoid early morning family car trips to the service station
