 | Plumbing in the tub |

Question: I own a condominium. I live on the third floor. The contractor who does plumbing in the building has been contacted by me. My problem. I have a drain problem in the bathtub. Water stands above my ankles when I take a shower and takes about thirty minutes to drain after I take a shower. The plumbing pipes are indepedent of the other owners in my building according to the contractor. So, it does not affect the people below me. I have tried liquid plumber, bleach and plunges and nothing helps. How can I solve this problem by myself without have an expense such as a plumber fix it. The plumber said they could use a snake to clear the clog. About five years ago I had a plumber install stems in the cold and hot water handles. However, the hot water supply line was broken and he could not shut off the water, so I will have to have someone come out and fix this. I just installed new handles but did not notice any leaks except when I took the handle back off on the cold water supply there was a little bit of water inside the handle so I wiped it off and put the handle back on. I also noticed that the spout drips a tiny bit after taking shower and stops. It drips for about five minutes and then doesn't leak after that. I know that I will probably have to have a plumber take care of the hot water shut off part, and if it doesn't leak then I don't think I should have a plumber come out now to do this. However, does anyone know why my bathtub drains so slow and should I call a plumber or just try and fix this myself.
Answer: Find a good plumber and have him make the repair. A good plumber is worth his weight in gold, just like a good doctor, lawyer or dentist.
