 | Where To Find Replacement Toilet Tank Lid? |
Question: I have what appears to be about a 20 year old American Standard toilet that in my infinite brilliance broke the lid to. The bowl says "Plebe", which I assume is the model, and the lid on the identical,non-broken toilet has "4049 L79" stamped into it. From this I assume the tank/lid are a 4049 model built in 1979 (same year as the house). Does anyone know of a mailorder or internet site that has replacement lids for these? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find one for less than the cost of a new complete toilet.
Answer: -Glue the lid back together, then cover it with a nice decorative towel or some such. A hardware store will have several glues to choose from for gluing ceramic. -You won't find a site. The lids are not sold w/o the tank. The tank is not sold because it's not 1.6 gallon compliant. You need to find a plumber or plumbing shop that saves and sells used lids (IMHO, there seems to be one place in nearly every town I have been in).
