Question: I'm at the re-assembly stage in my Cimbali and Unic travails, and I have a really basic question: How do you tighten up pipes and hoses? I know some people swear by Teflon tape. Some people have recommended a dollop of grease on fittings before tightening. Others have suggested non-permanent Loctite to ensure leak-proof seals...
Answer: For general plumbing purposes teflon tape, applied correctly, is great. The Unic has a number of copper crush-washers which seal key junctures. Make sure those are in good shape and the fittings are tight enough to mate... without stripping.
