Geothermal and instant water heater and heat tanks?

Question: We have this: 3 Ton Geothermal system downstairs 2 ton geo thermal system upstairs Both have the superdewater heater, what ever it is called. Our plummer wants to put in two gas heaters and run the up stairs off one and the downstairs off the other. My question is why not have a single 100 gallon holding water tank, (we have room for it) and a inline instant gas water heater? Has anyone done this? or Tie the two systems together and turn off one of the gas tanks? Looking for answers.

Answer: I have a similar situation.2 ton upstairs and 2.5 ton downstairs. I installed an additional hot water heater Ahead in series with my primary hot water heater. My thought is you would get a greater BTU exchange from 60 degree water than you would from 120 degree water. You have to consider over subcooling your refrigerant in doing this. I have not had a problem yet. One note, I can turn on the additional hot water heater on, on wash days or when the (Family descends on us for the holidays). If I had access to Natural Gas I would definitely get a Hot Water on demand unit instead of the electric primary unit, piping the system the same. Where you plumber is coming from is wasting and running water for it to heat up when it is piped from downstairs, my plumber had the same conversation.
