Maytag gas water heater?

Question: Our 50 gallon gas water heater is at least 18 years old (we moved into the house last year) and we want to replace it before it springs a leak. After watching how the local big box store employees bounce their water heater boxes around, I'm a little hesitant to buy one there. So I called a few local plumbers about the Rheem Pro series of water heaters. Two of the guys that I talked to said, "By the time you pay for the Rheem 12 year warranty heater, you might as well pay the extra $100 and get the Maytag. Maytags are the best water heaters made, they've got an FHR of 90 gallons and a recovery efficiency of 85%." My problem is I can't find any information on Maytag water heaters on the web to confirm this. Unless I looked in the wrong places, I couldn't find _anything_ on the maytag website for residential water heaters. Under their commercial laundry section there's a link to StateInc.com for commercial water heaters. Anyone have any information about Maytag heaters that they'd be willing to share?

Answer: All I know about them is that I believe they are made by State. Water heaters are really out of my field of expertise so I don't know that manufacturer's or their product's reputation. You may be able to find specifications for Maytag's hot water heaters at the following link. http://www.maytagwaterheaters.com/
