Help with draining Paloma water heater please

Question: I attempted to drain my Paloma (Mark VI) yesterday in case of freezing up in the near future. I found the "drain down valve" and removed the plastic cover by pulling it off. No water came out and as this plastic cover has a hole in it anyway I was not too surprised about this! Obviously there is something else that I have to do to let the water out? The instruct

Answer: I am not sure which version of the Paloma is on my boat, but I fitted it in 1988 and the drain valve is located in the bottom right hand corner as you look at the unit. The drain valve is a grooved rod, about 25mm long, with an threaded end and sealed with a small "o" ring. Unscrew with molegrips or simialar after opening all the taps(water and pump off) and allow to drain. Most of the water from mine drains back through the taps and only an egg cupfull of water comes out and I usually blow back through. It has certainly worked on my Paloma for the last 10 years.
