Question: The lower condo complains that there is a very small leak coming from mine. The walls have all been replaced with new fixtures. From what we can tell is that when taking a shower its not a problem. I've checked the drain at the bottom of the tube all looks fine. Theres no trace of any leaks coming from that area. I don't see or smell anything. This is an old building and the office does not want to pay to check it out but at the same time I hate for this to be a problem even though the lower condo is the office. Anyone have any idea what it could be? When water is released to drain could be traveling up the tube that has the stopper? Wouldn't the side of the tube show some signs of this?
Answer: Assembling from your comments, the lower condo is complaining there is a leak, the office does not want to pay to check it out, but the lower condo ~is~ the office? So, the office is complaining, but does not want to pay to fix it? Best I understand, most condo owner's responsibility stops at the carpet on the floor, and the paint on the walls. So, if you can be sure you are not spilling water, it would seem the proper response would be for you to smile gracefully, and tell the office to _fix it_. That is what you are paying those (usually rather high) condo fees for, isn't it? And to answer your question, most leaks usually have leave some indication of water residue. If you can see the drain pipe, presumably you can see the floor/joist/space under the pipe. Any signs of recent water there? Find the water stain, and work up from there.
