 | gasline teflon tape for plumbing? |

|
Question: Somehow I ended up with a couple of rolls of yellow gasline tape. Can it be used successfully as plumbing tape?
Answer: -You MIGHT be able to use yellow gasline tape. You have to check with your local code-master-dude. I live here in central NJ, and it does not meet code. I would suggest using good old pipe dope. It's actually easier and better -White teflon is degraded my petroleum products, IE website, propane, gasoline, fuel oil. Yellow is a different compound and will stand up to them. -I'm not a plumber or gas fitter, I don't know if it can be legally used or not, but it is widely used. Myself, I don't like any of the tapes. Pipe dope works first time, every time.
