Hard water effects on plumbing and heating systems?

Question: I have a situation that i would appreciate the groups comments on....please? I own a lot with an installed well that has been inactive for 10 years. i plan to build soon, and would like suggestions or comments as to what to do or avoid concerning a plumbing, heating, and drinking water systems. I had the well flow tested and it produced better than 15 gpm over a three hour test with a regeneration of 6 minutes. Had the water tested by a local water department and it showed coliform but no fecal. Further tests showed a hardnessof 70 and 1650 TDS.....( i was surprised that it was still a liquid *S*). We are also strongly leaning toward a hot H2O baseboard system powered by a propane boiler (elec. is the only other option). What would YOU do if this was your situation?

Answer: I'd pump the well much more (like as in many days) and then retest. Throttle the pump back with a valve so it doesn't run dry. You may want to have the well cleaned. Then I'd call a few independent water treatment guys in to propose solutions. If you're handy, want to install stuff yourself and want a quote, look me up. The hydronic heat water can be treated with chemical and you don't have to worry about the water quality then. But you certainly don't want to use this water everyday as it is now. And I suggest more testing than bacteria hardness and TDS. Such as sulfates, chlorides, iron, manganese and pH after running the water for days.
