Question: I need to do the standard water heater replacement (tank type, residential located in an outdoors shed in Los Angeles). This one was an inexpensive one, lasted about 10 years, which is not bad, but I am curious if anyone has some longer term experience with one of the newer "long life" or "high efficiency" models on the market. I will need to go down to Home Depot and pick up a replacement today as my wife doesn't care for the cold showers in the morning
Answer: -If you don't replace it promptly, you can be assured you will be needing cold showers at night even when the water is hot again. -You got 10 yrs out of an inexpensive one? That's average life span. You may not get any longer life with a more expensive one. Go down to HD and weigh the prices.
